Affirming the significance of music as a universal language that connects peoples and cultures, and in celebration of the inaugural Eastern Province Season, the Saudi Music Hub in Khobar is pleased to invite you to attend the concert of the world-renowned Danaj Ensemble for folkloric music. The music group Danaj was founded in 1988. It is primarily dedicated to presenting traditional folk music from the Moravian Lowlands region, a fertile wine-growing area at the border of the Czechia, Slovakia and Austria.
Since its inception, the ensemble has performed in most European countries, as well as in the United States, China, Nigeria, Korea or Lebanon. It has also accompanied several times Czech presidents on their foreign official trips. In 2004 Danaj was part of the official cultural program during the Summer Olympic Games in Athens.
The artistic director of the group is Magdalena Muckova, virtuoso cimbalom player, singer and the author of most of the musical arrangements.
Danaj and its soloists have received numerous awards in the field of folk music, including several Grand Prizes at the International Music Festival in Strážnice, the largest and most prestigious folk music festival in Europe.
