History of DJ Gear:
On this segment you'll learn about how DJ equipment’s evolved and developed from the 1930's til today, how it started low-end and basic to high-end expensive with technology and preference, showing case the benefits of keeping up with changing technologies, but never neglect the roots of the artform.
DJ Console Main Features:
To begin your journey as a DJ you need to consider carefully what is the right
equipment for you, the whole setup can be a big investment, depending on which device you choose, here you'll understand the fundamental features DJ's needs on any gear to do their mix.
Genre's:
Knowing and understanding the type of music you're about to play will improve your skills, techniques, and researching / discovering music that’s pertinent to the genre that you’ve chosen to be a specialist in, it will lead you to be a better dj in so many ways.
Mixing:
Wither you are using a controller or a high-end DJ set in mixing... that don’t change the fact that we all rely on the same rules by using the same functions on every device to blend two different individual tracks together by mixing sets of four or eight bars which it called "Phrasing".
Harmonic Mixing:
Harmonic mixing, or “mixing in key”, describes mixing tracks together where the musical elements – basslines, chords, melodies, vocals and so on – are “in key” with each other. They “match”. They sound good together musically. This is
because they use largely the same musical notes as each other.
The alphanumeric system is based on the Camelot Key Wheel, you as a DJ will understand how different keys are related and which ones sound good together harmonicly, having knoweldge of this will secure positive harmonic progression to your performance.
