Score Reading for Guitar Players


Sight reading is an important skill for every musician. It will not only help a guitarist to interpret music more accurately, but it will also help to learn and expand repertoire much faster.
Workshop is designed to help guitar players to understand system and principles of music notation, to learn how to read and play music fluently and improve sight-reading skills.

Objectives:
• Explaining notation system and function of the clef.
• Introduction to rhythm, note values, concept of bar and time signature.
• Notation of guitar open strings.
• Explaining more complex rhythms such as syncopation, triplets, dotted notes, ligatures etc.
• Explaining the first position of the guitar
• Introduction to the fifth, seventh and tenth position.
• Generating functional fingerings.
• Advices how to practice and self-improve sight reading skills. Outcome: Guitar players will get elementary knowledge about music notation. Mastering score reading skills will boost and speed up instrument learning process.
